Indiana Jones: X Never Ever Marks The Spot

Dr. Henry Walton Indiana Jones, Jr. is a professor of archeology, fictional adventurer, soldier, and principal character in the Indiana Jones franchise. George Lucas created this character and first seen in the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981, followed by Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), The Last Crusade (1989), The Young Indiana Jones chronicles (1992 – 1996), and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008). The notable features of this character are his look (fedora , leather jacket, and bullwhip), knowledge of ancient languages and civilizations, fear of snakes, and sense of humor.

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), also known as Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark, is an adventure-action movie directed by Steven Spielberg. Harrison Ford played the main character Indiana Jones, and the movie co-starred Paul Freeman as Belloq, a French archaeologist; Karen Allen as Marion, Indiana’s former lover; Denholm Elliott as Marcus Brody, Indiana’s colleague; and John Rhys-Davies as Sallah, Indiana’s friend.

The plot follows Indiana Jones, a renowned archaeologist and an occult expert. He is asked to find the Ark of the Covenant by the U.S. Government in the year 1936 which is believed to hold the powerful energy of the Ten Commandments. The Nazis are also seek the ark, for which they could use obliterate their enemy. In this quest, Indy and his former girlfriend escape from several close scrapes, which take them from Nepal to Cairo.

This movie became the top grossing movie of 1981 and still remains among one of the highest grossing movies. This film won five academy awards in film editing, art direction, visual effects, sound effects, and sound effects editing. This movie also won Grammy and People’s Choice Awards. John Williams composed Raiders of the Lost Ark score and London Symphony performed it.

Temple of Doom

Indiana Jones and Temple of Doom (1984) is an adventure movie, which is also directed by Steven Spielberg. Harrison Ford, once again played Indiana Jones, and co-stars include Kate Capshaw as Willie Scott, nightclub singer; Jonathan Ke Quan as Short Round, Chinese sidekick; and Amrish Puri as Mola Ram, demonic thuggee priest.

After arriving in India, Indiana Jones is asked by desperate villagers to find their children and stolen precious stone. Indy and his friends agree to help them and they stumble upon a temple, where an old thuggee cult kills his victims to rise once again. The cult believes that with the help of five Sankara stones he could rule the world. Now it’s up to Indy to rescue the children and get back the stones from the thuggees.

Awards: This movie won an Oscar for visual effects, a BAFTA film award for visual effects, Golden Screen, and Young Artist Award for best young supporting actor.

The Last Crusade

Indiana Jones and Last Crusade is also an adventure movie directed by Spielberg. The main cast of the movie is Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, a renowned archaeologist; Sean Connery as Professor Henry Jones, Indiana’s father; River Phoenix as Young Indiana; and Alison Doody as Elsa, an art Professor.

Three years after the recovery of The Ark of the Covenant, Indy discovers another biblical artifact called as The Holy Grail. He also finds that his father, who is missing, is also in search of the same Holy Grail. Indy rescues his father from Nazi’s territory and the rescue mission continues to save the Holy Grail from the Nazi’s.

This movie won an Oscar for Sounds effects editing, a BMI Film Music Award, Golden Screen, and Hugo for best dramatic presentation.

 The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is the fourth film in the Indiana Jones franchise, released in 2008 and directed by Spielberg. The main casts of the movie is Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, an adventurer; Cate Blanchett as Irina Spalko, Soviet agent; Shia LaBeouf as Mutt Williams, Indiana’s Son and sidekick; Karen Allen as Marion Ravenwood; and Ray Winstone as Mac George Michale, British agent.

Indiana Jones is entangled in the Soviet plot to reveal the secret of crystal skull, which is made of a single piece of quartz. If Indy delivers the skull to the right place, all ends well; but if it falls in the hand of the Soviet agent Irina, she will gain power that could threaten the world. Indy and his son face the dangers of Russia, the jungle, and supernatural powers.

This movie won Saturn Award for best costume, BMI Film Music Award, National Movie Award for best action/adventure, Razzie Award for worst prequel, and Teen Choice Award.
